> Description

This new line of NovaMega engines is manufactured for Serpent by NovaRossi, Italy. The top of the line Gas engine at this moment is the NovaMega SX21MS evo4. It has become a real state of the art product at the forefront of RC Gas engine technology. At this moment only one model is wearing the Evo 4 name, and that’s the SX21MS. First tested at the ’99 World Championships, since then tested and improved until near perfection was found now the SX21 EVO 4 is widely available. The SX21 Evo4 MS has some remarkable features.


Crankcase

The engine case and heat sink head are made from new special types of aluminium that are created to have ultra-efficient cooling properties without sacrificing strength.
This alloy dissipates heat better than regular aluminium, the engine can in some cases run with a leaner air/fuel mixture to provide increased power with far less risk of overheating.  


The case has extra cooling ribs. The crankshaft is supported better and excessive vibrations are prevented. The case has proven a whole year long to be very durable and reliable.  


Cylinder head set

The cylinder head consists of two pieces, a separate combustion “chamber” and a finned cooling head. The combustion chamber is made of an alloy similar to that of the cylinder sleeve, having the same characteristics to improve the construction.  


The construction totally seals off the compression chamber to provide the highest possible compression and thus max. power.


Crankshaft

The crankshaft is a 14mm diameter, balanced turbo type precision crankshaft. The intake through the crankshaft is optimised to allow a continuous flow of the vaporised fuel/air mixture into the crankcase. Counterweights are used to offset the weight of the connecting rod pin and crank porting. Making it more reliably, vibration-free and increasing top-end revs.  


Carburettor

The Evo 4 comes with a fully adjustable 9 mm heat insulated aluminium carburettor. It has an interchangeable Air restrictor, to control your engine’s consumption. Simply change the airrestrictor to change the consumption.
The special aluminium used for this carburettor improves cooling to minimize the danger of a vaporlock. The needlesettings holds it position, just like you set it up.  


Piston/Cylinder

The WC version piston, CNC machined from a new type of Aluminium. It is 25% lighter and dished for higher compression rates, minimising the combustion chamber.
The cylinder uses true ABC construction (aluminium piston, brass sleeve with chrome plating) for ultra–long wear. Of course, ABC piston/sleeves take longer to break in, but the benefits of longer life with better piston/sleeve fit is well worth the effort.  


Sleeve

The sleeve features 8+2 porting (one large exhaust port, two side exhaust ports, five main intake ports and two additional ports to aid in fuel scavenging) for increased torque at low revs, a powerfull midrange and high-end revs.  


Conrod

Novamega engines use XS-type conrods with 2 bronze bushings and lubrication lines.
These conrods have 5 mm bronze bushings and have proven to be exremely reliable.
(Not innerchangeable with evo 2 parts.)  


Backplate

The crankcase backplate is PTFE coated, with 0-ring groove and 2 aerodynamic lugs for improved mixture flows and lubricatrion. To make sure the backplate is fitted correctly, it is marked with an “up” inscription at the top of the plate.
