Introducing the new range of NovaMega SX15 engines. Manufactured for Serpent by NovaRossi, Italy, the newly updated EV5 series features new improved porting for better fuel flow and more mid range power. This combined with new smaller and lighter main bearing makes this evolution a subtle update but offers a significant difference in power delivery. The MS version has extra options on the engine that you can read more about in this section.
The engine case and heat sink head are made from special types of aluminium that are created to have ultra-efficient cooling properties without sacrificing strength.
This alloy dissipates heat better than regular aluminium, the engine can in some cases run with a leaner air/fuel mixture to provide increased power with far less risk of overheating.
The crank case features surface mounted cooling fins. The crankshaft is better supported and excessive vibrations are prevented which has proven to increase durability and reliability.
The cylinder head consists of two pieces, a separate combustion chamber and a finned cooling head. The cooling head is purple anodised with the EVO 5 and MS symbol laser etched to the corner of the head. The head features 8 cooling fins for maximum heat dissipation.
The combustion chamber is made of an alloy similar to that of the cylinder sleeve, having the same characteristics to improve the overall construction. The assembly totally seals off the compression chamber to provide the highest possible compression and thus maximum power. Comes fitted with an ultra turbo glow plug.
The 13mm diameter crankshaft is precision manufactured and balanced for smoother performance to enable it to reach higher top end revs. The intake through the crankshaft is optimised to allow a continuous flow of the vaporised fuel/air mixture into the crankcase. The EV5 comes with a fully adjustable heat insulated aluminium carburettor. The special aluminium used for this carburettor improves cooling and the consistency of your needle settings.
The sleeve has been modified from that of the previous version. It still features 5+1 porting, but has been improved upon to provide even more mid range power therefore improving overall power delivery.
The cylinder uses true ABC construction (aluminium piston, brass sleeve with chrome plating) for ultra–long wear. Of course, ABC piston/sleeves take longer to break in, but the benefits of longer life with better piston/sleeve fit is well worth the effort.
The conrod is the new ultra aerodynamic `R1´ type, to help reach higher revs and aid smooth power delivery.
