With almost 230 entries, for both Sedan and 1:8 scale, Capitol Classic at the beautiful 301 Raceway is definitely one of the top US event in 2008. Despite a really strong storm with a Tornado watch on Wednesday, weather was pretty good for the rest of the week. Actually it was really hot (around 85% humidity and 99F in the pits) with the track temp around 140F. Team Serpent was present with a its drivers to participate in the event and support the other Serpent racers competing there.

With rain affecting round 5 and 6 on Thursday, the organisers cancelled the running for that day and decided to try and run round 6 on Friday morning before the lower finals. Unfortunately the weather didnt want to play along and the 6th round of qualifying was also abandoned. This left Serpent 960 racer, Massimo 'Max' Fantini in pole position for this years World Championship, having set the fastest time in qualifying on Wednesday, a fantastic result for the team who are using the new rear end for this World Championships.
Massimo Fantini has continued to lead the way in Argentina by going faster in Wednesdays round 3 and 4, held early for the faster heats 7-12. The Italian driver, racing the Serpent 960 bettered his previous pole time by 9 seconds to secure the top spot going into the final days qualifting.
