USA Nationals gas-onroad 2011: Michael Salven is at the USA nationals to support the Serpent drivers in 1/10 and 1/8 scale onroad. The race in Chaplin is badly affected by rain and forecast is bad too. Let hope it will turn for the better, so racing can get underway soon. liverc.com will do live-timing when qualifying starts.
For Serpent Scott Kimbrow and Paolo Morganti are the ace drivers, in both classes. Many other top-drivers around, so will be a super race.

Michael Salven gave himself a perfect birth-day (50) present by winning the 2011 German 1/10 scale Nations in Kirchhain. The same track where he won his 1st ever 1/8 scale German title many years ago.
Salven with Serpen 733/XceedZX qualified in 3rd, with Pietsch TQ and Wichnesvski in 2nd with almost nothing between this top-3. Very close.
The saturday was the finals day.
Serpent had 7 drivers in the 2 quarter finals; with Green, Mazzeo, Gruber, Stammler, Salven, Branson, Jacobs.
Mainly fuel consumption and engine troubles made only Green go into the semi by winning his quarter with many laps as well, and Jacobs running a very good quarter too and Sammler as 3rd. Both Mazzeo and Salven were very fast in the quarter, but engine / consumption issues prevented bump ups.
Green was most of the time in 3rd place following Pietsch and Wichnevski closely, in last 10 minutes a small stone caught his 1st gear and broke it. Over....

Ilia made the 7th fastest qualifying time with his Serpent 966-TE version with Xceed ZX engine and using Xceed tyres.
Michael Salven was close to reaching the final, but in the last lap of the semi Vrielinck snatched away the 4th place by making a questionable overtaking manoever.

Serpent ( Michael Salven ) designed a new super-light ( SL) gearbox for the Serpent 1/8 966 .
The current Serpent gearbox system has been in use for a very long time, and the Serpent design has become the industry standard, with small revisions only. Stronger engines, research, racing and new insights fueled the new gearbox design.
Goals were to reduce inertia, fluent power transfer and increase reliability even further .
