Snowbirds 2010

I arrived at the hotel Monday night, and got all my stuff unpacked. I did some chatting with some of the racers I had not seen in a while, then decided to get some rest as I knew it was going to be a long week.

Tuesday morning was practice, it went well, both Markus and I were on pace. There were a few quicker drivers but we were happy about our cars a speed. Since Markus and I are the only ones so far to run the new link car we are always bouncing ideas off of each other through email, and its nice to see what each other is thinking about ways to go fast, weather the cars, motors or bodies.


Wednesday was another day of practice followed by one controlled round. We both did quite well in the practice round, after the round we worked on our cars to get them ready for thursday where we would have two rounds followed by friday and satuday both with one round each day. It is a nice way to do things because you get to relax a little more than you normally do at big races. Markus brought his family so he had some fun going to Disney and things. For the practice round in mod I decided to add some more castor to get steering but that was the wrong way to do it as it made the car a little hard to drive and did not stay flat. Thursday I decided to take the castor back out and try and find the steering somewhere else. For 10.5 I was 2nd for the practice round and was quite happy. I can't say I ever actually found the perfect combo in mod with my 8th place qualifying spot but 10.5 I was happy with the car sitting 4th after qualifying was all done.

In the mains I did not fair well, getting into some crashes finishing 8th and 9th, and Markus was able to take home 2 - 5th place finishes after having to come back from some crashes as well.

All in all it was a great weekend for Serpent as we were able to show the potential of the new car and get to meet some races who liked the cars appearance. The next race is the carpet nats for me in a month and For Markus the Euros in a few weeks.
